Maple Syrup Festivals Near Toronto
March means it’s time to “tap” into spring! Visiting a sugar shack is pretty much a right of passage for Canadians. Hitch a wagon ride, learn about the history of “sugaring-off” and settle in for some hot pancakes slathered with real maple syrup. Mountsberg Conservation Maple Town Mountsberg Conservation in Hamilton has been producing maple syrup for almost 150 years. As the winter thaws, approximately 600 trees will be tapped, the sap simmered in large kettles until it’s transformed into sweet syrup. Maple Town sells hot pancakes and there are guided wagon rides through the sugar bush. Once you’ve had your fill of syrup, check out Mountsberg’s Raptor Centre, for daily birds of prey demonstrations.
