Royal Ontario Museum

For the month of March, the ROM presents ROM at Home - Climate Reckoning: A Planet in Crisis. We are facing a climate emergency of catastrophic proportions. Our collective survival is at stake. Deepening our understanding of the science behind climate change can help preserve biodiversity and with it, the natural world. The troubling trajectory of a planet on the edge compels us to think hard about our responsibility. Learn more and explore how we can create a more sustainable world. Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre


In March at the Miles Nadal JCC, they celebrate International Women’s Day on March 1 as they launch a three-part series lead by Dr. Sylvia Solomon: How Women Challenge and Change our Laws. On their virtual gallery, Amanta Scott exhibits Eyeing Medusa, which celebrates willful women making waves in the world today, March 1-31. On March 21, Rachel Saslove and her husband Chef Joel Bair are hosting a mini episode of ‘Building The Jewish& Cookbook”, as a refresher for on what goes on a traditional Passover Seder plate and why, and ideas for creative additions that reflect your family. Randolph Centre for the Arts

Randolph Kids Performing Arts will be offering virtual workshops & hybrid/in person APRIL BREAK CAMPS! Half Day & Full Day Dance Camps, Play Production, Voice Over for Animation & Video Games, Broadway & Descendants Dance Classes, and Beauty & The Beast Story Time/Singalong are all available for kids aged 3 to 17. Women's Art Association of Canada


WAAC's current exhibition, Artist's Choice, continues until March 15, and members' show Refractive will take place in the online gallery from March 16 to April 30. Artists working in different directions of material exploration will present their steps to reinvent the routines and changes in daily life. On March 18 at 1pm, WAAC presents Artist Voice ZOOM Lecture with Blue Republic, sharing their research about concerns with discourses around globalization, contemporary experience, and disruption of the binary that divides art from a broader social space. Free early-bird registration available until March 11. WAAC Luncheon Program ZOOM lecture with Cathy Keays will be on March 24 at 1pm. Cathy Keays is the Past President 2016-2018 of the Women’s Art Society of Montreal, and the author of The Women’s Art Society of Montreal And Its Place in History 1894-2019. Bata Shoe Museum


There’s always something new at the Bata Shoe Museum! Learn the principals and techniques of The Art of Drawing on March 20, with visual artist and cartoonist Faez Alidoosti - their virtual workshops sell out quickly so sign up as soon as possible! Get creative and learn how to make an adorable sock puppet, listen to their weekly Storytime Series or explore their new online exhibition, SOCKS: Between You and Your Shoes. Museum of Estonians Abroad/VEMU


March events begin with a lecture from Dr. Peeter Poldre on March 3 where he will provide an update on the Covid-19 pandemic, with a focus on the new variants and vaccines. March 14 is Estonian language day for which they will be screening the documentary film Betti Alver. Ilmauks on irvakil (2020, in Estonian) about one of Estonia's brightest poets and those she inspired. On March 17, learn about fasting foods with their Cooking with Pastor Mart event. Estonian Music Week's Memories of Home online concert series will continue with its second show on March 25, featuring Estonian and Latvian folk songs performed by Linda Kronbergs, with Merike and Helmi Hess and Roland Campbell. Finally, the VEMU Translation Competition will be concluding on March 31. Submissions of the provided translated texts from Estonian to English will be accepted until then. Alliance Française de Toronto


March begins with a book club on March 4 at 6pm with Théâtre Français de Toronto. In the evening, join them for a Sofa-Thursday with the film Woman, followed by a Q&A with the directors. On March 5 and March 6 at both 1pm, depending on your level of French, meet Ophélie for a guided tour about women artists at the Centre Pompidou. A private concert Our Song d'Hiver will take place on March 6 at 8pm, performed by renowned soprano Mireille Asselin! Join them on March 17 at 7pm for a talk in French on Indigenous Tourist Sites, presented by Corinne Baranger. Eugène Delacroix will be featured during the guided tour on March 20, still hosted by Ophélie And finally, travel on March 21 with the animated movie The Bears' Famous Invasion of Sicily, a look and questioning of human nature. Istituto Italiano di Cultura



The network of Italian Cultural Institutes in the USA together with IIC Toronto, continue marking the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s passing with a number of online events under the DANTE 700 banner. On March 25, together with the U of T Department of Italian Studies and E. Goggio Chair in Italian Studies, they will launch Toronto Salutes Dante; a series of multilingual readings of the Inferno, taken from Dante’s iconic Divine Comedy. Check the IIC Toronto website regularly for updated information on this and other events being offered in collaboration with the USA network throughout the year, including expert conversations, cinema, music, art and performance, honouring the great Dante.



Toronto Reference Library


Toronto Reference Library continues offering high-quality programming you can enjoy at home with TPL’s Live & Online series. Enjoy live broadcasts with local and international authors in conversation about their latest books and big ideas. Tune in on March 3 to hear Robert Jones Jr. discuss his staggering debut novel, The Prophets. On March 17, Adam Bunch recounts Toronto’s alluring history and talks about The Toronto Book of Love, and Eden Robinson discusses Return of the Trickster, the third instalment of her bestselling Trickster Trilogy, on March 23. Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir


Tafelmusik is thrilled to launch Musik in Motion, a free series of collaborative videos featuring local artists of diverse art forms produced by Puncture Design In keeping with Tafelmusik’s commitment to exploring “baroque and beyond,” Puncture and Tafelmusik invited five creative partners including visual artist Alex McLeod, Tafelmusik cellist Keiran Campbell, and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre with choreographer Hanna Kiel, to interpret music that is an essential part of Tafelmusik’s signature repertoire. The first video in the series, featuring painter Darby Milbrath, is now available to watch. The series will roll out over the coming months on Tafelmusik’s YouTube channel, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. Learn more at tafelmusik.org.




The Royal Conservatory


The Royal Conservatory’s “Live from Koerner Hall” online concerts bring extraordinary performances to your home throughout March. The ARC Ensemble (Artists of The Royal Conservatory) performs an all-Beethoven program, and a selection of folk songs at a free online concert on Friday, March 12 at 8pm. Celebrating Mohammad Reza Shajarian with Kayan Kalhor, an exclusive online concert co-presented with the Tirgan Festival, will be broadcast March 20 & 21. Tickets are available for $35 per household and are available to Ontario residents only. Acclaimed soprano Miriam Khalil will join baritone Russell Braun and pianist Carolyn Maule for an online concert titled To the Distant Beloved on Sunday, March 21 at 1pm. Tickets are $10 per household. The Glenn Gould School's talented voice students will present art songs and opera excerpts at the free online broadcast of The Glenn Gould School Vocal Showcase on Friday, March 26 at 7:30pm. Distinguished harpsichord and piano soloist, David Louie, will perform works by Louis Couperin and Johann Sebastian Bach on Sunday, March 28 at 1pm. Visit rcmusic.com/livestream for details.


Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema


This March, experience the best and brightest docs on Hot Docs at Home. Anticipated films premiering on the streaming platform include Coup 53, the story of the 1953 CIA/MI6 staged coup in Iran that overthrew Prime Minister Mossadegh; the heartwarming Stray that follows the live of a dog living on the streets of Istanbul; and Gustav Stickley, chronicling the rise, fall and resurrection of the father of the American Arts and Crafts movement. The Japan Foundation, Toronto

This month, The Japan Foundation, Toronto will be co-presenting with Japan PEN
The Impact of the Pandemic on Society and Creativity: Perspectives from Writers from Japan and Canada. Join this special series of online talks by iconic, award winning authors from Canada (Margaret Atwood, Katherine Govier, Vincent Lam) and Japan (ASADA Jiro, KIRINO Natsuo, HIRANO Keiichiro) in conjunction with two special commemorations; The 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Japan Foundation, Toronto and the 10th anniversary of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake Tsunami tragedy. The select authors will share their unique perspectives on societal, cultural, and personal transformations that have occurred throughout the past year with people around the world. Continuing this month is the free online series STAGE BEYOND BORDERS - Selection of Japanese Performances. Comprising of 18 stage performances released almost weekly, the presentation aims to showcase Japan's excellent stage performances online to global audiences including Canada. The Bloor St. Culture Corridor, Toronto's most diverse arts and culture district, is a true creative cluster, an arts and culture destination, and a collaboration between some of Toronto's most dynamic arts and culture organizations.

The Bloor St. Culture Corridor offers the public a wide variety of arts genres, from museum experiences to films, art exhibitions to music concerts, and opportunities to experience some of Toronto's cultural diversity, including Aboriginal, French, Jewish, Italian, Japanese, Estonian, African and Caribbean arts and culture.
All Bloor St. Culture Corridor organizations present arts and cultural events for the public year-round in destination venues located in a cluster along a vibrant stretch of Bloor Street West. Each year more than three million members of the public go to Bloor St. Culture Corridor arts and culture destinations, and attend exhibitions, performances, and events. Together, the Bloor St. Culture Corridor organizations employ more than 5,500 culture workers and generate more than $629,500,000 in economic impact each year. In 2016, The Bloor St. Culture Corridor was successful in working with the City of Toronto to have the Bloor St. Culture corridor section of Bloor St. West designated an official City of Toronto cultural corridor.
