Aparitie de carte.
Recent a apĺrut traducerea englezĺ a volumul “Gânduri printre rânduri” a colaboaratoarei ziarului nostru Veronica Lerner apĺrut la editura Arhaeus din Bucuresti. Versiunea englezĺ poartĺ titlul “Smiles in the Mirror”si are douĺ introduceri. Una este traducerea celei originale a scriitoarei Ariana Bittel. Cea de a doua, pe care o reproducem mai jos, este scrisĺ de Don Mills, directorul sistemului de biblioteci din Mississauga.
I met Veronica Lerner when a mutual friend told me about this local resident who had written a book and was looking for some advice on what to do next. As chief librarian in a large public library, I get a number of calls to “read this book I’ve written.” I am always keen to oblige and I do so, always hoping I can give the would-be writer some honestly positive feedback.
Then Veronica came in to see me with her book, confessing how very nervous she was. I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her and took away her manuscript. It was a perfectly lovely collection of very personal and heartfelt stories and impressions.
I then had the additional pleasure of giving her my “honestly positive” reaction to her book. I was not surprised that Veronica then got it published and to much warranted acclaim! And I have had the added pleasure of placing copies in all the branch libraries in Veronica’s city and of directing many many others to the joy of finding this fine book. When some are surprised by the feelings and perceptions of a chemist that they find in the book, I am reminded of the key to all creativity - whether with test tubes or pen and paper - the joyous human feeling of making and sharing.
As her now two books - as well as the person herself - attest, this is what Veronica does so well. And in return, we thank her for the pleasure it brings.
